Because The University—San Francisco State University offers a unique design program in Information Architecture and highly respected in the professional community, I received a high-quality IA education.

I specialized in Information Architecture (IA) at The University—San Francisco State University in the my IA MAIA master’s degree program. At the time many universities did not offer degrees in Information Architecture.

The focus of the IA MAIA program is to both hone students’ research skills and deepen their professional design expertise in Information Architecture.

The Navigational Systems Model—

4. Integrated navigational systems
5. Remote navigational systems
6. Ad hoc navigational systems
7. Search engines in Websites

In addition and conjunction with the IA MAIA, I received training in Information Architecture and the Internet industry from The Multimedia Studies Program (at that time a comprehensive program in IA was offered). I earned an IA Certification: IA ID&T with a specialization in Information Architecture.

This training bridged the gap between academic programs by providing opportunities to work with seasoned professionals and Sr Information Architects who worked in the Internet industry.

All classes provided real-world-work assignments (similar to doing IA, IXD, PM internships) that matched job requirements for doing IA to bridge any gap between academia and real-world-work situations. Of course, at The University, many IA and Graphic Design internships were successfully completed.
