Success Strategies

Research and Usability Testing: A comprehensive understanding on how to do research, gather, and collect data. Doing design research and extensive brainstorming; performing needs assessments (competitive analysis) and Website audits.

Executing quality design deliverables on time; implementing user-centered design principles into projects.

It is important to understand business requirements.

Understand and take into consideration what end users need prior to implementation of Websites or other digital design products.

Team leadership and time management skills; administering specialized usability testing sessions to end users.

What is an Information Architect (IA)?

Definition: The Information Architect is responsible for the research and design, organization of the Websites, structuring of information on Websites, usability testing, doing Project Management. Many components are required for doing IA for successful completion of IA Projects.

In the long run, corporations that do Information Architecture for Websites may increase their profit margins. Prior to implementation, designing Websites for end users that work right.

Usability testing is also a component to Information Architecture—to make sure user-centered design is accomplished prior to implementation.

Effective and well-designed Navigational Systems enable end users to wayfind successfully on Websites.

My Information Architect (IA) Skills

Components to Projects: Research, Website audits, design plan reports, competitive analysis, needs assessments.

Tasks analysis, observations, focus groups, card sorting, heuristic evaluations, usability testing, wire frame mockups, navigational systems, flow charts, end user flows, interaction design schematics, mapping and diagramming, site maps.

Leadership & Professional PM Skills

Understanding Requirements: Leadership and professional project management skills specific to Information Architecture and interaction design.

Understanding deliverables, successful strategies, expert negotiation skills, team structures that work right, and milestones for design projects.

Working with clients on developing digital design products—corporate Websites or other digital design products—specific to their needs and business requirements.

Then incorporating user-centered design principles into digital structures prior to implementation, using a systematic approach.

Doing IA

Systematic Approach: This is a robust, systematic, approach by which to work successfully—on IA Projects—from inception to completion with consistency.
