Information Architecture & Corporate Training Curriculum The curriculum covers cognitive and learning theories, needs assessment, instructional design models and strategies (ADDIE or other ISD models), visual and Web-based design, Information Architecture, usability testing and assessments, and project management. My subject matter focus in this program was Information Architecture, Technical Writing, and Corporate Training. The University—San Francisco State University Instructional Technologies Department Information Architecture & Technical, Professional Writing Curriculum The curriculum covers workplace writing forms, methods, and issues—with interdisciplinary electives that further develop related communications skills and attitudes. In this program, core skills in technical writing provide solid foundational skills in technical and professional writing, including: fundamentals of technical and professional writing, professional editing, desktop publishing for professional writers, individual and team writing, and work experience in technical and professional writing. Other skills are taught via the skills electives as well as subject matter focus. My subject matter focus in this program was Information Architecture and Corporate Training, including skills electives in Information Architecture, Graphic Design, Instructional Technologies, and visual communications. The University—San Francisco State University Technical & Professional Writing Department Information Architecture & Graphic Design Curriculum The concentration provides a formal structure for our existing visual media studies, incorporating graphic design and digital media in the IA BAIA and IA MAIA programs. The concentration is interdisciplinary, incorporating the study of graphic design, history, aesthetics, process, technology, project management, Information Architecture, usability testing, materials, and marketing (the BFA program was in Graphic Design). My subject matter focus in this program was Information Architecture and Graphic Design. The University—San Francisco State University Design & Industry Department The College—California College of the Arts Graphic Design Department Information Architecture & Internet Design, Technology Curriculum The curriculum covers practical courses in Information Architecture (IA), including: IA processes and procedures, IA vocational training, writing IA design plan reports, interaction design, Website design, card sorting, rapid prototyping, writing user personas and user scenarios, drawing wire frame mockups, producing flow charts, schematics, end user flows, site maps, doing usability testing, technical writing, interactive script writing, use case scenarios, and project management. All courses include doing real-world-based projects that provide solid opportunities for gaining hands-on experiences. The program is also interdisciplinary since it allows one to design their own programs pertinent to an individual’s need and career goal. My subject matter focus in this program was Information Architecture, Interaction Design, and Project Management.
